LET’S TALK ABOUT EMAIL LISTS
The best advice I can give anyone starting a new project is to start by building your audience. Don’t wait till you’re ready to launch to focus on your audience, focus on them from the beginning. The best way to do this, is through an email list.
The first thing you’ll need is an email service provider. There are two I recommend (and I’ve used both):
- Mailchimp for those just getting started
- CovertKit when you’re ready to upgrade to the next level
LET’S TALK ABOUT MAILCHIMP
Mailchimp is free if you have less than 2,000 contacts which all beginners should have.
Mailchimp is easy to use and the most intuitive of the email service providers I’ve worked with. Using one of their templates, it’s super easy to get a professional-looking email or newsletter set up in no time. They offer tons of tutorials, articles and help on how to do it.
Mailchimp is best for image-heavy emails. So if you want to email your customers to sell them a physical product, use Mailchimp. It integrates with most e-commerce platforms and makes it easy to set up campaigns and promote them across multiple channels.
Mailchimp offers a lot of advanced features, but they get tricky to understand and implement. Which is why I recommend upgrading to ConvertKit when you’re ready to take the next step.
